Cody Rhodes didn’t revert back to his old wrestling home for staying confined to the mid-card zone forever. His shocking WrestleMania loss against Roman Reigns, however, dampened the enthusiasm around his big return. But fellow WWE star Tommy Dreamer deep down believes the loss would lead Rhodes to eventual greatness.
His faith finally bore fruit after a long when Rhodes ended his feud with Brock Lesnar with a soaring victory this SummerSlam. This win elevated him to the status of one of the biggest babyfaces in the company at the present time. According to Dreamer, it wouldn’t be so seamless for Rhodes if he wouldn’t get that hard reality check at the biggest wrestling stage back in April.

After getting the ticket to the main event of WrestleMania 39, Rhodes finally took a breath of relief at being able to get closer to his dream. But that too didn’t last long as he suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. It led half of the wrestling world to fume in a rage, questioning WWE higher-ups for their bizarre decision. But Tommy Dreamer wasn’t among them.
Seeing the bigger picture, the former ECW tag team champion realized his WrestleMania 39 loss couldn’t prove to be a waste and now it’s a well-documented truth, with Rhodes cementing his status as a bigger babyface in the company.
Articulating his thoughts on this, Dreamer noted, ”I always been a big proponent of trust the processes. Our very own Dave LaGreca was crying when Cody Rhodes lost to WrestleMania. And if you or anybody doesn’t think that Cody Rhodes is a bigger babyface today as opposed to when he was on his path to WrestleMania, losing to Roman Reigns, you don’t watch television because Cody is a much bigger star going into WrestleMania.”
Many people are now believing Cody Rhodes, losing to Roman Reigns, was indeed the right call
The shattering loss gave Cody Rhodes the extra push to prove himself in a greater way
The American Nightmare headed to WrestleMania as a big babyface in the business, with a bunch of promos that established him as the hero who was going to take up a fight to claim a title that had eluded his late father, Dusty Rhodes. Most of the wrestling community was ready to see Cody wrapping the coveted title around his waist, but all hope went in vain with Triple H, building it differently.
Before most of the fans and critics were done attacking Triple H for killing Rhodes’ momentum, The Beast loomed in the scene.
After months of going back and forth, The American Nightmare finally beat Lesnar in an action-packed SummerSlam to end their feud. It clearly proved that getting a series of blows from Reigns and Lesnar chiseled the best out of the marquee second-generation wrestler.
