However, none of them proved successful until recently.

Khan found a silver lining in the gloomy cloud recently after the recent edition of AEW Dynamite. It seems like the AEW President has finally overcome his woes pertaining to the ratings.

The past 24 hours were good for the entrepreneur for a few reasons. Not only did he appreciate his family’s presence at his father, Shahid Khan’s birthday party, but he also revealed something of professional significance on social media. Tony Khan announced on ‘X’, “In the past 24 hours, from the most viewers in over 3 months last night for Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite on TBS to my Dad’s birthday party with my mom and sister, what a great day it’s been! God bless you all!” This is good news for fans of the promotion who wish to see it succeed more.

The massive viewership numbers most likely stem from the classic match between MJF and Will Ospreay which wrestling fans were excited to witness. With MJF picking up a win and the AEW International title changing hands, several noteworthy moments transpired during the match and card. Nevertheless, this seems like a win for AEW compared to their Wednesday Night performances in the past few months.

Criticism has come in from every quarter for the 41-year-old for his inability to handle his business efficiently. These were based on reports about AEW not doing as well as WWE on TV, which continues to be the leading wrestling promotion. Fans had been rough on the Jacksonville-based company. He appeared on the Wrestling Observer Radio for an interview where he talked to Dave Meltzer about the progress of the promotion so far. It seems like he has accepted that the numbers they are getting may not be on par with WWE every time, but they are still achieving something that could be worth appreciating.

In the interview, Tony Khan confronted and publicly addressed the online callouts he had been getting for lower viewership and ratings of AEW weekly shows. This is when he revealed that the numbers that his company received were enough. Moreover, he claimed that there are shows that would do anything to reach where they currently stand. So, despite everything, he has set his sights on the future. While AEW may take a step back or two based on different factors, the AEW Dynamite 07/17 episode has emerged as a massive milestone for them.
