Drew McIntyre made his unexpected return to Money in the Bank after a three-month-long hiatus. After losing a triple-threat match against Gunther and Sheamus at WrestleMania 39, the former WWE Champion took a long break.
The Scottish Warrior made his comeback, attacking Gunther after the latter retained his Intercontinental Championship against Matt Riddle at MITB. However, according to a new report, McIntyre will be missing action once again due to being committed to an upcoming film project.

Martial Arts Action Cinema reported that Drew McIntyre is set to share the silver screen with Dave Bautista and Ice Cube in the upcoming action film, The Killer’s Game. This would be McIntyre’s first Hollywood project. And so, his non-wrestling project may keep him from action next week.
On Raw, McIntyre revealed to Riddle that he would not be present on the show on July 17th. Furthermore, PWInsider has confirmed that he will not show up on Raw due to his engagement in the film. At this point, it’s unknown what role McIntyre is playing in the film. But, Deadline has provided a brief synopsis of the film.
It read, “Based on Jay Bonansinga’s novel, the film is written by Rand Ravich and Simon Kinberg, with recent rewrites by James Coyne. The film follows veteran assassin Joe Flood (Bautista), who is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and authorizes a kill on himself to avoid the pain that is destined to follow. After ordering the kill, he finds out that he was misdiagnosed and must then fend off the army of former colleagues trying to kill him.”
On the latest edition of Raw, Drew McIntyre teamed up with Matt Riddle and locked horns with Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser of Imperium. Gunther attempted to intervene in the final moments but Riddle warded him off. McIntyre further delivered a claymore to Vinci to pick up the win.
Although McIntyre won’t be in attendance next week, he will most likely face Gunther at SummerSlam next month.
Drew McIntyre and Gunther have never faced off in a one-on-one match
Gunther has been on a roll since making his main roster debut. He is now one of WWE’s longest-reigning Intercontinental champions. Additionally, he is undefeated. After a very physical match, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre failed in their attempt to dethrone the ring general at WrestleMania 39.
