While speaking at the Gorilla Position, former Bloodline member Jey Uso noted that the initial plan for Roman Reigns’ Tribal Chief character was to butt heads with The Fiend but later it has been nixed for creative ease. ”At first, I think the first angle that Roman was supposed to have was with The Fiend, but I don’t think The Fiend would have elevated The Tribal Chief the way it came through me. It was just leveling up every single week.” Uso said.

The Fiend fought Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman in a triple-threat title match at Payback 2020 as he aimed to defend his Universal championship.
