Former WWE Champion Sasha Banks left WWE on a sour note in May last year despite being tag team champion. Her departure shocked the world as she was one of the top superstars in the Women’s division. But since she wrapped up her  NJPW dates, rumours started spreading that she was returning to WWE. Now, we have received more updates on her return despite her absence from the AEW Dynamite show.

Dave Meltzer gives an update on Sasha Banks aka Mercedes Mone

Renowned Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer recently spoke about NJPW superstar Mercedes Mone fka Sasha Banks (WWE) in his recent podcast on Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer seems unsure about the contract status of Mercedes Mone while stating, “The expectation is that it’s imminent. Until it happens and that I hear that the contract is actually signed, I don’t take anything seriously because it’s been a year of rumors and thoughts and noting happened.

As per Meltzer, Mone might be back in America soon, however, it is not sure with which promotion. Though Meltzer has believes she’s headed to AEW, he refuses to confirm anything on her signing as long as things are not settled.

Though it was never announced earlier fans were expecting Mone to show at the AEW Dynamite show this week. The expectations arrived after Dr. Britt Baker called herself The Boss of AEW, a moniker adopted by Banks in WWE. But it all turned futile as Banks did not show up in Los Angeles. However, Meltzer and AEW fans have not given up hope yet.

Meltzer further commented, “She could have signed with AEW at the time. You know, that was only a few dates. Five shows.” This further solidifies that Mone has a high chance of joining AEW as her next move. But what about the cues given by Sasha Banks about joining WWE?

However, Meltzer also confirmed that WWE was also in line to get Sasha Banks back, if not for the Mone(y). He said, “Nothing precluded her from signing with AEW, except for if she did she would be giving up her chance to go to WWE. She was negotiating with WWE just until recently.

In the end, Meltzer winded up by stating that he is not going to confirm anything unless he sees it himself. He has heard that AEW believes that Mone joining Tony Khan’s promotion is imminent, and that it’s probably going to happen and everybody’s expecting it. But you never know.
