CM Punk continues to be the cynosure of the WWE world, making his presence known at Raw tonight at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. It marked his first appearance since last month when he officially signed with Raw and announced he would be entering the 2024 Royal Rumble. That said, Drew Mclntyre, another self-proclaimed CM Punk hater other than Seth Rollins, ruined the festive atmosphere in the opening segment.

The night kicked in with Michael Cole analyzing the potential of the American Nightmare to be the two-time Royal Rumble Champion after Stone Cold Steve Austin. Shortly after, we saw Drew McIntyre making his way to the ring and throwing shade at the former AEW star in an eerie fashion.

The Scotsman had earlier downplayed Punk during a recent episode of the red brand. Tonight, he made a shocking claim of leaving WWE while laying waste to the prospect of Punk’s epic WWE return.

He noted, ”Maybe I need to leave for 9 years and come back to receive a hero’s welcome.”

We might see a lot of drama regarding this rising rivalry between Punk and McIntyre, as both men aim to capture the championship gold and have a vendetta against Seth Rollins.

However, Mclntyre didn’t get on the nerves of the Best in the World in a surprising call. Rather, the company has carefully been building the heat for weeks.

Drew Mclntyre venting about CM Punk has been a recurring theme in recent weeks

In a recent episode of Raw, The Scotsman took jibes at Punk. In a scathing promo, he indirectly lambasted The Second City Saint saying how individuals who are labeled as liars, hypocrites, or cowards often get fired, quit, or walk out of the company, and then again return to the lore.

It wasn’t the only episode he expressed his loath for Punk. The 38-year-old labeled the Raw star as a controversial entity even before his return.

It seems that Mclntyre going against the marquee figures of the roster and tearing them apart to stand out is nothing but a pattern that is purposefully stitched to make his heel turn more authentic and dynamic.

It remains to be seen how WWE pans out the Punk-Mclntyre story in the future, but it has an immense prospect to stretch upon.
