Are Matt and Jeff Hardy the greatest tag team in WWE history? Let's hear your thoughts!

Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy have switched multiple promotions during their wrestling runs. More recently, they have found themselves in Impact Wrestling. Several weeks ago, when Matt’s AEW contract was coming to an end during the road to WrestleMania XL, fans wished for them to return to WWE. While that didn’t happen back then, Chris Van Vliet believes it is possible. During the latest interaction, he discussed how The Hardy Boyz are bound to return to their former workplace for one last run before hanging up their wrestling gear.

Currently, the Hardy brothers are both signed to TNA where they are the World Tag Team Champions. Although wrestling fans are still getting to watch them in action, there was a huge consensus among fans for them to join WWE again. While the negotiations may not have worked as well at the time, CVV thinks it will eventually happen if not in eight to nine months from now.

I think it’s just a matter of time before the Hardy Boys go back to WWE for one last hurrah, one last kind of like nostalgic pop of like greatest hits, said the host on his podcast Insight. He added another good point by the end of this topic, “I think it’s maybe it’s 2026, 2027. But yeah, I mean that one’s going to happen for sure.

This is a possibility for the future because the older Hardy brother has made it clear that he, out of the two of them, is not retiring anytime soon.

Have an interesting take?

Before April 2024, when his AEW contract was reportedly getting expired, fans were worried that they might have to witness another legend’s retirement. However, fortunately for the fanbase, the legendary tag team is still consistently showing up for in-ring action. This is when Matt Hardy tried to clear out all the confusion among fans. He posted on X that despite the contract expiry, he is not yet hanging up his boots “anytime soon”.

This was a relief for fans who then also went on to demand he and his brother sign with the Stamford-based company. We don’t know as of yet why this scenario didn’t play out, but he seems optimistic about the future. The older Hardy doesn’t speak for his younger brother and vice versa but the two talents are usually seen in pair.

When Matt joined Impact, his brother followed shortly after, becoming the World Tag Team Champions there. So, even if one of them wishes to join the leading wrestling promotion, chances are the other one may follow for one final run. According to Chris Van Vliet, it may happen in 2026 or 2027. Till then, fans of the tag team who watch WWE will have to wait around.
