Generally, the pro wrestling world is not accepting of Tony Khan. The AEW CEO is often dragged for his decisions and feuds with other personalities. However, some of the stars who have worked with him see him a bit differently. Matt Hardy is one such star who has good words to say about his boss.

Tony Khan and Matt Hardy are running toward the end of their contract together. Despite the scenario that is going on in the wrestling world, Hardy didn’t hold back from his honest thoughts on Tony Khan.

On a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the wrestling legend sat down and talked about his current equation with AEW and how things have been backstage while also shedding light on other things. He touched upon the topic of his current boss and talked about him for a while.

Matt Hardy began by saying, “Tony Khan, has taken great care of me. He has been a good boss. I think Tony Khan is a great human being.” He said this before confirming that Khan’s management is not the reason why he is leaving the promotion.

He revealed that he still has a lot of potential and so does his brother Jeff Hardy, no matter what the internet thinks. “There is a ton of value in both Matt and Jeff Hardy right now and if you’re like one of the FIIs and IINs online that don’t see that, then I’m so sorry,” added the older brother.

But if his relationship with Tony Khan is not bad, then what could be the motivation behind Matt Hardy not renewing his contract with AEW? Amidst his ongoing WWE return rumors, his statement seems confusing.

As Hardy said on this episode of his podcast, he believes he still has what it takes to demand greater things in the wrestling industry. So, it is plausible that he has professional desires that Tony Khan’s promotion does not agree with. So, Matt Hardy has reportedly not renewed his AEW contract as of yet. However, he has made it clear that this is not going to be his last wrestling run.

In a recent tweet, a fan had asked Hardy whether he was going to leave wrestling altogether after March. Hardy had a hopeful reply for fans to look forward to. He admitted that he is not done with the sport yet and is planning to move further in the industry.
