Matt Hardy didn’t turn up at WrestleMania XL as several fans had speculated. The reason behind this could be the fact that his contract with AEW ended as the calendar struck on the 10th of April. After these reports from Fightful were released, Hardy sat down on his podcast to describe his future in the pro wrestling industry.

He talked about his contract status as of present and what he would be doing moving forward in the wrestling industry. Even though Hardy has moved on from AEW, it appears that he is still fixated on his previous job.

Despite the heavy speculations of his Mania return, we did not see Hardy return to WWE. Matt Hardy’s absence in the Six-Pack Ladder Match during night 1, was brought up by Jon Alba during episode 119 of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy. Hardy ruled out that he was currently weighing in on the options that he had in hand before playing a card.

Notably, Hardy had a message hinting at an alternate possibility for those who thought he wouldn’t return to work under Tony Khan again. The older Hardy brother listed how AEW’s schedule and flexibility benefit him. “You want your schedule to be as smart as possible when you get a little older, especially if you want to be there to see your kids grow up. So yeah, I’m certainly not ruling that out,” said the wrestling legend.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet a few days before Mania in Philly, Matt Hardy confessed that he realizes his worth in the industry and wouldn’t like it if he was booked to lose without being a part of a compelling storyline. It was supposedly an indirect shot at his AEW run.

Even though he now seems to have developed a soft spot for Tony Khan, this probably would be a diplomatic move because Hardy is taking his time with this decision.

While talking on the same podcast alongside Jon Alba, the ex-AEW superstar didn’t reveal his next destination. However, before listing the reasons to return to Tony Khan again, Matt Hardy clarified he would take every situation thoughtfully before making a decision.

I don’t wanna make a quick decision. I wanna make sure that I am doing the right thing for me, long term. So that’s where I’m at,” said the wrestling legend during the podcast. So, even if Hardy is to rejoin AEW, fans need not worry about his decision because it seems like he is taking his time before making a compelling agreement.
