After over a month of rumors, theories, and hints, Matt Hardy has finally been revealed as a non-All Elite wrestler. While everyone believed that his next destination would be the WWE, especially a run with Uncle Howdy, Matt Hardy has chosen to go in another direction. And specifically to sign with another wrestling promotion.
And the company is none other than TNA. A place where he carved his broken character and helped him gain mainstream attention again. With this return, Matt Hardy has crushed all the rumors of a WWE return, but also several hearts. Let’s dig in deeper to see what the return was like.

During TNA Rebellion’s day-long telecasts on TNA+ and Triller TV, Broken Matt made his return to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling after more than three years since his last appearance. The main event of the pay-per-view just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, saw Moose defeat Nic Nemeth to keep the TNA World Championship in his possession. When The System came out to celebrate with their leader, a cryptic video played on the screens. Giving rise to a resounding blackout of the stadium.

When the lights came up, Broken Matt stepped into the ring to hit his Twist of Fate on The Wrestling God. The wrestler confronted Moose’s teammates, warning that he would be in charge of giving the DELETE! to The System. Hardy lifted the World Championship as if it were his own to bring an abrupt end to the show. But while the ending of the show concluded on a cliffhanger, Hardy’s decision to join TNA is one that actually makes sense. Especially considering his previous run in the company.

Matt Hardy returns as a regular on Total Nonstop Action following his departure from the company in 2017. Officially, the professional wrestler made his first appearance since 2021, when he appeared on-screen as a representative for Private Party in the brief talent swap between then-called IMPACT and All Elite Wrestling.

Precisely, Matt Hardy left the latter a few days ago after a four-year stint that saw him in multiple solo stories and as Jeff Hardy’s partner. Just like in AEW, Matt returned to TNA with the character that made him popular among professional wrestling fans between 2016 and 2017, and that allowed him to reign with the ultimate championship.
