CM Punk used to be the most sought-after talent in WWE during his brief free-agent tenure following his tumultuous AEW release last year. Fans were all over the moon speculating about a reunion between the Second City Saint and the Stamford-based company after almost a decade. Finally, the wait was over with Punk ensuring a momentous entry to the WWE’s squared circle during Survivor Series 2023, immediately becoming a nightmare to his foes.

However, Punk seems far from being done as he reportedly wants to do a favor for the leading wrestling promotion in the world. The Chicago-based star wants to get his wife AJ Lee back into the company ring. A young NXT star who has forged a close bond with the former Nexus leader stated this juicy update.

Lee, 37, was one of the most prolific female figures in WWE until her unfortunate departure in 2015. Her prevalent health issues loomed large over her life forcing her to make the difficult choice. Ever since, the WWE world has been looking for the former Divas Champion’s rampant return, especially after Punk’s reemergence in the lore triggered the idea of a husband-wife reunion inside the ring. Ahead of the Money in the Bank PLE, speculations went rife that Lee would make an appearance in Toronto but Punk dismissed that belief noting she was busy taking care of their dog at home.

While Punk didn’t rule out the possibility of a return in the future, he made it clear that his wife prioritized her life outside the ring for the time being. Now, it turns out that the former AEW star is actively pushing his better half to lace up her boots.

Punk’s arch nemesis, Drew McIntyre recently took a dig at Lee in a Monday Night Raw edition. It was the first instance of AJ Lee’s WWE mention in a decade. With SummerSlam 2024 knocking at our door, Roxanne Perez was asked about her dream match with AJ Lee and Punk’s stance on this. In a quick response, the 22-year-old noted to Pro Wrestling Illustrated, ”Definitely, yeah. I try. But he tells me that he’s doing the same thing. He’s trying to get her to, like, come back, pulling her in. But I hope one day she decides to come back and have a match with me.”

Lee’s return could also impact Punk’s current momentum in his WWE run.

Although initially, they had nothing much to do with each other, their brief association involved Lee being addicted to the babyface gimmick of Punk. Now, after so many years, the union of AJ Lee could bring back their fizzled on-screen chemistry. The company’s creative could usher her in into the bitter rivalry between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk. The way the Scottish Warrior dragged her up into the promos, Lee might not let him get away with this if she comes back. A home invasion angle has also emerged as a viable option, according to rumors.
