The Undertaker instills fear in wrestlers and fans alike. A tall man with a trench coat and a black hat has had a massive impact that has changed the landscape of professional wrestling. The Deadman played a crucial role in making professional wrestling popular around the globe.

The Undertaker was one of those WWE superstars who were quite strict with their gimmicks. No matter if they are on or off-screen. The WWE Universe rarely saw the behind-the-scenes life of ‘The Deadman’ as Mark Calaway. ‘The Deadman’ was so involved in his in-ring character that he lost Mark Calaway on the way. And on top of that, the WWE Hall of Famer already predicted that long ago.

Recently, on the show ‘A&E’s WWE Rivals’, WWE legend The Undertaker and former Raw general manager Mick Foley shed some light on some of their most famous moments together and some of the character work they put in to maintain the integrity of their gimmicks.

The Undertaker talked about leaving Mark Calaway far behind

During the show, ‘The Deadman’ talked about his complete transformation into The Undertaker. He said that he was very clear from the beginning of one fact. And that was, one day, his in-ring personality would take over his Mark Calaway personality. And with time, fans left behind Mark Calaway, and what remained was only The Undertaker. 

Remembering his iconic gimmick, ‘The Deadman’ said, “It really became apparent to me early on that The Undertaker and Mark Calaway…… they were gonna somehow…… have become the same person. Mark Calaway got put way…… way back on the back shelf….. And The Undertaker is what most people, most of the time saw.”

During his more than three decades of professional wrestling career, The Undertaker did everything to make fans fully involved in the persona and resulting storylines. He never shared a glimpse of his personal life with the fans. And that was the main reason behind the engaging storylines of this WWE legend.

Additionally, the Hall of Famer even thinks that the major reason behind the lack of engaging storylines these days is oversharing of personal life by superstars
