Eric Bischoff reacts to Vince McMahon, changing the name of ‘Walter’ to ‘Gunther’
Walter was officially called back to NXT 2.0 from the NXT UK division earlier this year. The first match saw a major change in Walter that nobody expected. WWE had changed the name of Walter to Gunther.
Bischoff said, “If he was WALTER in his indy career and he’s going to be WALTER on Monday Night RAW or SmackDown, then there’s a cloud over who owns that trademark. WWE doesn’t want to have intellectual property, talent, storylines, creativity, promotion, all of the other things that go into the value of building that intellectual property if they don’t own it. Who would do that?” (H/t Wrestling Inc)
Bischoff gave an example of renting a property. He said if someone is renting a property; they don’t own it. He said, “In this case, WALTER is the property that they don’t really own and in this case, Gunther is the home.”
Eric Bischoff is siding with Vince McMahon saying The Boss is right. Walter was his past outside WWE and in NXT. As of in the future, Vince wants Walter to make a new future ahead and for the same, they changed his name to Gunther.
