Makers of $8.4 Billion Movie Franchise Set for Awkward Bump With $800 Million Worth Dwayne Johnson’s Iconic Character

Dwayne Johnson, who is popular among wrestling fans as The Rock, is not only famous for his in-ring prowess but his exceptional work in the film industry. The Hollywood star’s on-screen presence and charisma have garnered him fans worldwide.

Unlike the other members of his Anoa’i family, Dwayne Johnson didn’t just stick to the squared circle. He extended his reach and tested his luck in show business. And now, Johnson is among the highest-paid Hollywood stars.

He has played some iconic characters in several movies. Some of them were quite crucial that an $8.4 billion dollar franchise is finding it difficult to remove his character from the upcoming movie without making it awkward.  

The departure of Dwayne Johnson is troubling the famous movie franchise

There was a legendary feud between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel a while ago. Both Hollywood stars were at loggerheads because of their contrasting work routines and attitude. Johnson walked out of the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise because of this conflict. He simply stated that it became difficult for him to work with Diesel. And now, it is troubling the makers.

Johnson played a pivotal character named ‘Luke Hobbs’ in the movie ‘Fast Five’ (the fifth installment of the Fast and Furious series). And now, when he has said ‘goodbye’ to the franchise, the crew faces trouble in removing his character from ‘Fast X’ (the tenth installment of the series) as both movies are connected.

While every major character from the ‘Fast Five’ is returning. The absence of Luke Hobbs could leave a bitter taste in viewers’ mouths. However, there are a few things that the makers could do to smoothly erase Johnson’s character from the movie.

Alterations the creators could make to dilute the importance of Luke Hobbs

Fast X is set to release on May 19th, 2023 and makers might have altered Johnson’s character in two ways. The first is by using old footage of Luke Hobbs and connecting it to the movie. The creators could potentially do it by making it a flashback or by properly editing the clip so that it goes well with any new scene.

And secondly, just by diluting the story around Luke Hobbs and decreasing his importance in the movie.

Dwayne Johnson’s last movie with the franchise was ‘Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw’. And after that, fans didn’t see Dwayne Johnson in any other movie in the car racing franchise. Nevertheless, now that the movie’s last installment is ready to release, it would be interesting to see how they conclude the series without Luke Hobbs.
