CM Punk has aptly been nicknamed as the best in the world. The wrestler enjoys one of the strongest fanbases and established himself in a cutthroat industry while several other greats had active careers. Punk had an elaborate gimmick or larger-than-life look, but it was his raw personality and tenacity that made him a fan favorite. While the crowds at both WWE and AEW still chant his name, Punk has almost wrecked all roads leading back.

A tweet on X revealed that the WWE has made it explicitly clear that CM Punk will not be making a comeback. Stating Fightful Select as its source, the tweet said, “WWE sources are “adamant” that the company and CM Punk are NOT in talks regarding a comeback. There were several within WWE that wanted to make that clear for fans expecting to see him at #SurvivorSeries in November.”

WWE quashed such rumors since a needless disappointment can easily hurt their ratings. Moreover, it has already taken enough damage because of Punk.

WWE left no room for ambiguity in its statement regarding CM Punk. In fact, the pro wrestling outfit also revealed that it shot down his requests to sign him again. However, while the WWE has made a statement as clear as daylight, Dave Meltzer has a different opinion.

Dave Meltzer’s take on the possible comeback of Punk

According to Dave Meltzer’s words from Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE rejected Punk’s offer to return to the company. Vince McMahon, Triple H, and Nick Khan jointly decided that the deal had more losses than gains. While Meltzer reported the turning down of a deal with Punk, he also said that nothing is permanent when it comes to WWE.

His statement carries a lot of truth. The WWE currently thinks that the pros of hiring CM Punk come with a lot of cons. However, this stance may immediately change if something convinces WWE of the opposite. Punk’s outreach towards the WWE over AEW also suggests that the ball currently rests in the court of Vince McMahon.
