Near the end of tonight’s WWE SmackDown, the wait was finally over. The ring consisted of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and The Bloodline. The two forces who were pitted against each other were now united. Johnson was in his heel persona and was ready to go off on everybody. However, while cutting his promo on Cody Rhodes, he made a Michael Jordan reference, which had one major flaw in it. The WWE Universe was expecting Johnson to come out with his new heel persona, and he did. However, many fans have forgotten how good of a heel he could be.

This promo will go down among Dwayne Johnson’s best. Not only was the audience red hot to boo him, but he got them to go louder than anyone could’ve imagined. He has always been great at playing the heel, and according to him, that part never went away. It just came back out thanks to the ‘Cody Crybabies’. During his promo, he talked about Rhodes and the fan’s wishes for him to complete his story. To this, he added, what exactly was Rhodes’ story?

Furthermore, he gave the comparison of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls ruining the Utah Jazz’s hopes and dreams in 1998. While the promo was fire, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful pointed out one glaring error. He said, “Hahah I don’t think that Utah Jazz comparison works for the Rock. That would have been like the Jazz losing the 97 NBA Finals, and then when they earned their way back in 98 being like “well let’s give it to the Lakers instead, we’ll win the NBA Title some other time“.

As Reigns had predicted before the show, this night has changed everything. Not only has The Rock become a member of The Bloodline, but he also issued a warning to Rhodes. Dwayne Johnson said that he would do whatever it took to ensure his cousin, Reigns, would walk out of Mania, as still the WWE Universal Champion.

In which direction could the WWE take ‘heel’ Dwayne Johnson’s storyline?

With Dwayne Johnson, the first storyline the WWE wants to focus on is Cody Rhodes. Not only is this the biggest story fans want to see a conclusion for, but Rhodes is the biggest babyface to Johnson’s heel. This creates a dynamic story the likes that Reigns could not reach.
