In an interview with Good Morning America in 2019, Johnson shared an amusing story behind the origin of his childhood nickname. After one of the hosts brought up how DJ’s mother revealed his childhood nickname, the last time they were on the show, the Hollywood star revealed details behind its origin.

Recalling the hilarious story, Johnson said, Yes, thank you for bringing that up. We’ll all remember that. Yes, it is Dewey. Well, let me give a background story. Of course. We are a family. When I was a baby, my godmother said he needs to change his diapers and mom said is he- is he wet? and she goes, ehh just a little Dewey. And that’s where it came from.”

While narrating the incident, Johnson cracked up into laughing and said the nickname has pretty much stayed with him. Though it was an embarrassing revelation by his mother, Johnson believes she is funny and his love for her is ever-growing.

Being one of the coolest guys on the planet, even Johnson wasn’t spared getting embarrassed by his mother.

Red One is a star-studded movie that includes stars, Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans in a holiday action film. It will be backed by Amazon (Amazon Prime) and directed by Jake Kasdan.
