Bret Hart said The Ultimate Warrior let down a dying kid
In 2007, Bret Hart released his autobiography ‘Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling.’ In this book, he talked about his time in pro wrestling and his interactions with stars such as Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, and others. But one chapter that caught the eye of the readers was the one about The Ultimate Warrior.
‘The Excellence of Execution’ recalled how Warrior had a meeting with a dying Make-A-Wish child. But it didn’t go exactly as planned. The terminally sick child wanted to meet the Warrior as his last wish. Hart revealed that the child’s family was with him and were waiting for their promised encounter with the wrestler.

Hart mentioned that he and other wrestlers came over to greet the child. The child, dressed in a Warrior shirt, wore tassels around his biceps to emulate his hero. He added that a WWE representative asked Warrior, who was in his dressing room, if he was ready to meet the dying child, but the wrestler said he was busy.

The Hitman further wrote that the family waited outside the dressing room, with the boy hoping to meet his hero. Hart said when he returned after his match, he saw that they weren’t there. He thought the kid’s wish had come true. But that wasn’t the case.
In an excerpt from the book, Hart mentioned, “Warrior’s entrance music played while Jim and I quickly showered in hopes of beating the crowd out of the building. We’d have to hurry since Warrior never went over ten minutes. We dressed, grabbed our bags, and took off. As we rounded a corner down a backstage ramp, we came upon the boy and his weary family, who had been moved there so as not to get in the way of Warrior’s entrance. I thought, That lousy piece of s**t. He’d made them wait all night, unable to summon the compassion to see this real little warrior.”

He said Warrior’s behavior disgusted him and that many other wrestlers never balked from meeting a sick child. This was truly a heart-wrenching incident that didn’t portray Warrior in a good light.
