There is an obvious expectation that Reigns will retain the title against Paul. But that hasn’t stopped the YouTuber from going all in for the match. Paul has roped the help of a former WWE star for his big match, who once famously beat Reigns’ cousin The Rock in a huge upset.
Logan Paul prepares for Reigns by training with a WWE legend
Shane Helms, aka The Hurricane, will be training Logan Paul ahead of his match with Roman Reigns. Helms famously beat Dwayne Johnson in a match on RAW in 2003. The clash at the Crown Jewel event will only be Paul’s third match in WWE. He made his in-ring debut at WrestleMania, teaming up with The Miz to defeat the Mysterios. However, his last match was at SummerSlam when he beat his former partner, The Miz.
Shane Helms recently appeared on the After The Bell podcast and revealed he has been training Paul for his title match.
He also praised the online celebrity and said he will need to step up to face Reigns.
Helms said, “This guy [Logan Paul] was a wrestler, and now he gets paid for it. He’s a professional wrestler. He’s super talented. I’m looking forward to this.[…] I’ll be going to Puerto Rico training with Logan pretty soon and down at the PC as well. He’s going to have to step it up.”
Logan Paul will face Roman Reigns for the title at the Crown Jewel PLE on 5th November.
The Hurricane is unbeaten against Dwayne Johnson
Not many wrestlers can claim to have an unblemished record against Dwayne Johnson in WWE. The Brahma Bull holds wins over the likes of The Undertaker, John Cena, and Hulk Hogan. In 2003, he got involved in an entertaining mini-feud against The Hurricane.
During that time, The Rock had already ventured into Hollywood and was now playing an over-the-top heel. As this cocky, arrogant heel, he ran into the ‘superhero’ character of The Hurricane and the two produced some memorable backstage segments. It’s ironic that he now plays ‘Black Adam’ who despises the DC superheroes.
