Imane Khelif's complaint against Logan Paul: Is it justified or blown out of proportion?

The controversies from the Paris Olympics 2024 continue even after the global sports event has come to an end. Algerian boxer Imane Khelif was one of the hot topics during the boxing games and even after winning the gold for her country. The controversy involved Logan Paul, along with other popular faces, in which they opined that Khelif doesn’t belong in the ‘female’ category of boxing.

Everyone who made this claim online, including Logan Paul, seems to be in heated waters now that Khelif has filed a case for aggravated cyber harassment and spreading misinformation about her.

The former United States Champion took to X and called Khelif a ‘man’ in a now-deleted tweet. When targeted for spreading misinformation, he agreed in a tweet he posted later on that he spread misinformation like all the other people on X. The former WWE United States champion also claimed that he stands by what he said. Reports claimed that the women’s Welterweight boxing gold medalist has now filed for aggravated cyber harassment against Logan Paul and other prominent figures like JK Rowling and Elon Musk.

Khelif was disqualified from the World Championships in 2023 because of the elevated amount of testosterone in her body. Even though she claims that she was born a biological female, the sports community has pretty much been displeased with her victory in the Olympics and the controversy attached to it.

Was Logan Paul spreading misinformation?

The WWE superstar called Imane Khelif a man even though she is biologically a female, making his tweet a ‘misinformed’ one. To add to it, there were claims about how the boxer’s testosterone is above the allowed limit. After this controversy broke out in the Olympics and gained traction, Khelif’s trainer, George Cazorla, told Le Point magazine about how he had contacted a renowned endocrinologist from the Parisian University Hospital after the World Championship disqualification. He agreed that there were problems with Khelif’s hormones, but since then, they had kept a keen eye on her and kept things under control.
