“Literally Doing Everything That He Shames the Rock for..”: Dwayne Johnson Fans Rip Apart John Cena for His Viral ‘School Girl’ Look

The career of WWE star John Cena has had followed a similar trajectory to that of Dwayne Johnson. Both started off as happy-go-lucky faces in pro wrestling before they turned heel and got over with the crowd. In fact, both the stars led the company as its biggest baby faces at one point in their respective careers. Moving away from the squared circle, Cena followed The Rock’s footsteps in Hollywood and even joined one of his former franchises, Fast and Furious.

And now The Franchise Player has taken another unique step in emulating DJ in the acting sphere. Cena will star in a new comedy movie Ricky Stanicky. The recent photos from the set of the movie show the 16-time WWE World Champion wearing a skirt and high heels! For reference, The Rock once also sported a skirt during his 2007 movie Game Plan.

John Cena goes down the same road as Dwayne Johnson

Over the years, John Cena has talked about his respect for Dwayne Johnson and even thanked him for helping him out in his movie career. The two have also become good friends and have mutual respect for one another. However, this wasn’t the case during their WWE feud, which began in 2011. Although the rivalry took place within the kayfabe confines of WWE, there were moments when the lines between fiction and reality were blurred.

During his first promo to kick off one of the most memorable build ups in WWE history, Cena unleashed the ‘Doctor of Thuganomics’ on DJ. He hit out at The Rock for leaving WWE to make movies and even took a shot at his getup in some movies including Game Plan, where ‘The Brahma Bull’ donned a skirt for a scene. Cena said, “He wore lipstick…. and rocked a skirt, for the Game Plan.”

Fans criticize Cena over recently revealed pictures

The animosity has since died down, and Cena has made up with The Rock. But after he was spotted wearing high heels, leggings and a skirt with plenty of make-up, the fans of The Great One were keen to remind his onetime rival of how he disparaged The Rock for a similar portrayal over a decade ago.

Many fans also expressed their displeasure over Cena’s new look for the movie.

Its ironic how the ‘Leader of Cenation’ is going down the same road as The Rock yet again after he brutally went after him during his famous 2011 promo. John Cena’s career has mirrored that of The Rock’s in many ways, but this recent avatar could be the strangest and most unexpected of them all.
