The Undertaker became a legendary WWE character due to a variety of aspects of his character. Anyone who doesn’t know Taker will also be stopped when the bell rings and Taker walks up to the ring. As soon as The Deadman walks past the curtains, it’s obvious that something extraordinary is about to take place.

Along with the iconic bell, his entrance also included strobe lights, a pitch-black arena, and fire shooting from the floor, all of which were unforgettable and gave spectators the chills. Former WWE wrestler Dutch Mantell reportedly remembered a day when he nearly died as a result of his entrance.

During a recent episode of ‘Story Time with Dutch Mantel’, the seasoned wrestler discussed the notorious WWE elimination chamber from 2010. Unfortunately, Taker got burned on that particular day as the pyrotechnics had failed, leaving him helpless against the flames.

The Undertaker escaped tragic death

Mantel described what took place. He stated, “I’m not sure of this, but he stood right over it because he was going down the ramp, correct? And I think the pyrotechnics were coming up underneath him. I don’t know if he walked through this. But Undertaker didn’t make a lot of mistakes, but I think they lit it underneath him and kind of lit him on fire for a second.”

“That’s why he had to get that jackets off, so quick and I heard when he cone back in that dressing room that night he was, I hate to say this he was on fire.”

For those who don’t know, in 2010 at the Elimination Chamber, Taker entered the Elimination Chamber using the same method he used many times before. But as one of the flames shot below him, it set him on fire, and his magnificent entrance utterly backfired and almost cost him his life. He acted so fast and instinctively that he threw off his jacket while running.

WWE fired one of the staff members following a terrible incident

Given the significance of the event and how valuable and profitable The Undertaker was to WWE, the promotion fired the person in charge of the firework. The Undertaker too was enraged by what took place.

Further in the conversation, Dutch Mantell stated he wasn’t sure who was at fault. However, he was of the opinion that the people in charge should have made sure, Taker knew where to stand. He said they in charge didn’t brief Taker about the positioning.
