Rey Mysterio got into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023. This happened just one night before he beat his own son at WrestleMania 39. Despite a rocky history, Rey now commends his son’s remarkable growth as a WWE performer. In an interview, he shared his immense pride in Dominik Mysterio even though they have had an intense on-screen rivalry.

Outside the wrestling ring, it shows the strong bond between a father and son and Dominik’s deep understanding of wrestling. Rey Mysterio was very surprised as he talked about Dominik’s amazing journey as a WWE wrestler.

Rey Mysterio talks proudly about his son’s wrestling success

In a recent talk with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Rey Mysterio shared about his son Dominik’s amazing WWE adventure. Despite a heated on-screen feud, Rey is super proud of how much Dominik has improved as a WWE wrestler since he began in 2020. Rey really cares about how wrestlers connect with the fans, even when the fans are cheering or booing.

He said that Dominik understands this really well. Rey also said that Dominik Mysterio is good at knowing what the crowd is thinking and can make quick decisions on the spot. The current United States Champion stressed his son’s solid education and deep wrestling knowledge in his success.

Rey couldn’t help but express his admiration for his son’s progress in the WWE. He stated, “Mondays I’m home, I’ll sit down with my wife, we’ll watch Raw together, and we see our son come out, and we see the connection he has with the fans, and it’s just, it’s mind-blowing. And to see his growth week after week after week for the past year and a couple of months, since he did the turn, it’s unbelievable. I’m in awe every time I see it. 

He also added, “When you connect with the fans, whether they love you or hate you, that’s what you need. And he just, he’s getting it, he understands it. There’s an instinct there that he feeds off, and he does what he feels is the right thing to do in that moment and if he was wrong and somebody corrects him afterwards he’ll learn. He’s like a little sponge and then the next time he’ll apply it which I think is cool.”
