In pro wrestling, epic rivalries have the potential to reignite even from the graves. We often see a lot of old storylines between fighters taking new shapes to add to the drama. Now, it seems like we are on the verge of getting a new rivalry in the lore involving Cody Rhodes.

The American Nightmare had a long history with current SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis that culminated from their AEW days together. It reached its peak with Rhodes winning the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at All In five years ago. That said, that air of in-ring heat between them still seems to linger as evidenced by Aldis’s recent comments.

Cody Rhodes has faced an array of opponents in his decorative AEW and WWE careers so far. From Roman Reigns to Brock Lesnar, the son of the son of a plumber feared none in his way of achieving heights in the industry. While the former Stardust failed to get an upper hand over The Tribal Chief, he humbled The Beast Incarnate a few times.

Now, he’s gearing up to settle the score with the next big challenge in his court in the form of a frenzied Damiam Priest at Crown Jewel this week.

Amid this dynamic, Nick Aldis who fought Rhodes in 2018, dished out a compelling storyline to the audiences hinting toward fetching it back to WWE as well.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, the blue brand’s newest general manager noted, ”I will say, Cody and I, [our] rivalry, chemistry, the story is sort of undeniable. He knows where I am., and I know where he is, and never say never. ”

However, it seemed like the 36-year-old still has huge respect for his former rival.

The former NWA World Heavyweight Champion spoke highly of The American Nightmare after his incredible win at Royal Rumble 2023.

Aldis came out to be a clear admirer of Rhodes. During an interview, the new WWE signee revealed that he felt the same delight on Rhodes’ terrific win at Royal Rumble 2023 as he felt during his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38.

In fact, he holds immense pride in the fact that he, too, was a small part of Rhodes’ ride to the top of the business at some point of time in his career.
