During the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown, AJ Styles demanded a rematch for the WWE Undisputed Championship from Cody Rhodes. Rhodes accepted Styles’ demand but announced that the match would not be a normal one. Instead, it will be an ‘I Quit Match’. After the acceptance of Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles for the ‘I Quit Match’ for the Undisputed WWE Championship, Nick Aldis confirmed and approved this match for Clash at the Castle 2024, which will take place on June 15.
This direct rematch of the fight they had at Backlash 2024 promises to be an exciting and highly anticipated fight, especially after the excellent reception of the previous confrontation between the two fighters. That particular match earned plaudits for being one of the best fights in recent years. But it seems like the ending to the upcoming match has already been revealed due to predictable plot points and a little bit of pro wrestling history.

In the latest edition of the Busted Open Podcast, the podcasters talked about the upcoming match between Rhodes and Styles. And it was during this conversation that they predicted the outcome of the match. They revealed how it is hard to imagine a babyface submitting to his opponent by saying “I quit,” so it could be Rhodes who wins the match. “Cody, obviously, is the babyface. You don’t want to never say I quit. Babyfaces don’t lose. I quit matches cleanly anyway.” However, they also discussed how losing to The American Nightmare could be detrimental for Styles as well, as it could be his last shot at the title, as he revealed in his fake retirement speech. “If Cody makes AJ say, I quit. That might be closing a very interesting chapter on AJ’s career and probably his last chance at a WWE championship at that level.”

So the more likely outcome could be that there could be interference from Gallows and Anderson as they help Styles win the match. But it seems less likely that the ending of the match would be a clean one. So the WWE will have to pull such a move to justify the outcome for the two without major effect. But what if Styles does lose? Would he be headed to TNA?

In a recent interview with Bernard Colas, AJ Styles was asked about the possibility of playing one more match in TNA before definitively ending his career. Styles assured that he no longer has an interest in it unless WWE and TNA collaborate as they did at the Royal Rumble. In that case, he would be open to the possibility, but he intends to remain loyal to WWE for the rest of his career.
He said, “I would think if it was approved by WWE, maybe if I had something happen in TNA, but as of right now I’m a WWE guy.” AJ Styles has commented on several occasions that he intends to retire in WWE and, subsequently, become a coach or assume a similar role. In addition, he seems to be comfortable and happy in the company. So, what do you think? How would the WWE book the match? Let us know in the comments.
