Lana was granted a title shot against Asuka after her shocking win at Survivor Series. Lana looked to make most of her rare opportunity, but the Women’s Tag Champions got involved.
Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax walked out to the ring to taunt Asuka which caused her to throw water at them. The champs’ tempers flared, and they attacked Asuka, costing Lana her title shot.
Jax looked to plant Asuka through the announcer’s table with a Samoan Drop, but Lana came to the Raw Women’s Champion’s rescue. She pulled her off Jax’s back, and they escaped from Nia and Shayna’s clutches.

Seeing Lana’s defiance angered the champions even further. They emphatically challenged her and Asuka to a tag team match, which the latter accepted immediately.
Shayna and Nia were too strong for their opponents, but Lana showed some special fire against Nia Jax. She lit up Jax with slaps and strikes as Nia backed away into a corner. However, Jax quickly regained control.
The exchanges between Asuka and Shayna Baszler were especially exciting, considering they haven’t faced each other in WWE yet. Both women were long time NXT Champions and are two of the most feared wrestlers in the world. The match was won after Asuka rolled up Shayna for the three count.
