Last week during the SmackDown season Premiere, Roman Reigns started a feud with LA Knight. Now, a week later, the latter returned to get a piece of The Tribal Chief yet again.

Paul Heyman opened up the SmackDown episode for tonight, glorifying Reigns and defaming Knight in the process. However, the blue brand top star quickly appeared to defuse him in front of the audience and call out his current rival.

A few hours ago, WWE reiterated the report from the LA Times that LA Knight will attack the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at Crown Jewel 2023 as Reigns defends it.

After Heyman made a few comments on how Knight would fail in this task, the wrestler showed up and challenged Reigns to appear in the ring too.

Standing without any confrontation from The Tribal Chief, the 40-year-old called out Reigns officially for his title. He called the champion to sign the contract for their match next week on SmackDown. He also threatened Reigns while challenging him to appear himself, rather than sending The Bloodline as his pawn.

Although we didn’t see the Samoan wrestler appear on SmackDown itself, the announcement confirmed that the two opponents shall come face-to-face next week on SmackDown when it will take place in its new temporary home, FS1.

So far, Knight seems confident as ever as his confrontation with the Undisputed Champion moves closer. However, the real question remains, will he be able to best Reigns?

Can Roman Reigns’ new opponent be counted on?

The 38-year-old has been reigning the Universal Championship for over 1,100 days. His run as a WWE champion would probably go down as one of the longest and most influential. In fact, in 2023 itself, Reigns has proven his worthiness by defeating four challengers so far. Despite his scarce appearance in the promotion, he has managed to hold up as a champion.

Now, as he moves toward his fifth defense, the question of his competence as a champion arises again. Since LA Knight is one of the most decorated stars on SmackDown, WWE might pin the match in his favor. Until we witness the Crown Jewel main event, there is no sure way of knowing who will come out on top.

Since Cody Rhodes is a star who is expected to have his full circle moment in 2024 by defeating Reigns, LA Knight’s victory seems unlikely.
