The wrestling world is a cruel place, especially if you go off the rails. Certain superstars steadied their course, but a few derailed completely. Chyna and Triple H were in a relationship that started during the latter’s first run in the company. As Hunter Hearst Helmsley, he didn’t rise higher in the mid-card, but D-Generation X changed everything. Along with Triple H and Chyna were Shawn Michaels, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg Jesse James and X-Pac.
Chyna and Triple H dated till 2001, after which Triple H began seeing Stephanie McMahon, who he married in 2003. The on-screen relationship between Triple H and Stephanie turned into a real-life relationship, which led to the end of his relationship with Chyna. Soon after that, she left the company.
WWE were in a weird spot and didn’t know the next move. According to Jim Ross, Chyna’s departure was a mutual decision, while she contradicted JR’s verdict in an interview with Vince Russo. She claimed the company let her know she wasn’t needed via fax. After her death, JR said Chyna demanded a $1 million salary which he described as ‘outrageous’ and unrealistic.

Having crossed paths with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Chyna, Kurt Angle had an unrestricted view on what unfolded. However, he sympathised with the late great and with her fans, recognising her abilities and accomplishments. He talked about the story on the Kurt Angle Show.
“It was shocking but at the same the writing was on the wall. I mean it was a shame what happened between Triple H and Chyna. She was a trailblazer, and what she was able to accomplish in professional wrestling, from a woman’s perspective, was incredible. It was just amazing, but it was really sad to see how everything ended up with Chyna.”
Kurt Angle praised Chyna and called her a trailblazer. Unfortunately, Angle’s assessment wouldn’t pay off as Chyna, or rather Joan Laurer’s life hit rock bottom after she left WWE. A failed modeling career, and subsequent issues with addiction and abuse led to the wrestling world losing one of its most iconic figures.
