“King of Squash Matches,” “Better Play 2k”: Brought Back by Triple H, 33 Y/O Star Gets Trolled Online for Calling Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson His Dream Opponent

Every wrestler in the WWE has a dream match and opponent they would like to face off against one day. Many have dreamed about facing off against Dwayne The Rock Johnson. However, not every wrestler’s dream of facing The Rock is met with rousing approval from the fans. This happened to a 33-year-old SmackDown star. 

But what made fans resort to trolling the SmackDown star? Was it his career, his in-ring skill? Whatever it was it seems fans are not on his side.

Top Dolla’s dream match is with Dwayne The Rock Johnson

Anthony Joseph Francis, known in the WWE as Top Dolla, is a former football player turned wrestler. His massive statue makes him out to be a formidable opponent. He served two stints with the Miami Dolphins before shifting to the Seattle Seahawks, followed by The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and lastly the New York Giants. Dolla joined the WWE in  2020 and had a less-than-stellar run.

While on the Jobbing Out podcast in 2021, he revealed that his dream match would be against John Cena, Roman Reigns, and The Rock. He further explained how much he looked up to The Rock. According to Dolla, this is because The Rock got him into wrestling. When WrestlingWorldCC posted an image of the two on their social media, claiming Dolla would love to face The Rock, fans quickly trolled him. This is due to his below-average in-ring performance since joining the company.

Dolla’s first appearance on the WWE Network was for NXT in 2021. Aligning himself with Isaiah Scott, he was a heel. He formed his group called Hit Row with Scott, Ashante Adonis, and B-Fab. Despite being drafted to SmackDown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire team was released from the company.

On the August 12, 2022 episode of SmackDown, the team would make their return for a quick squash match. This was done under the orders of Triple H, who still believes Dolla could impact the roster. Dolla and Adonis would win a title shot for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team belts but would fail to pick up the win against The Usos. Even though Dolla tries his best to get over with the fans, one botch might have cemented his spot in the minds of the fans.

Botch Dolla and the hilarious Fan Reaction

Despite Dolla’s lackluster run on the main roster, the moment that made him notorious among fans was during a match on SmackDown. Dolla attempted a dive to the outside during the match against the Viking Raiders and Legado Del Fantasma. However, being the big man he is, his feet hit the ropes, resulting in him botching the move. Fans took to social media to call out the botch. This is the reason for the trolling he received when he uploaded the image. 

Fans were quick to point out it will only happen in the game.

Some savagely said that it would remain a dream.

Many were optimistic it could happen.

A new nickname was discovered.

A quick reminder about his botch.

And a namedrop of what fans call him.

Looking at the reactions, it is safe to say that fans do not have a high opinion of Top Dolla as a wrestler. The botch on SmackDown is still fresh in the minds of many. Time will tell if Dolla improves in the ring and ever gets his dream match with The Rock.
