Dwayne Johnson is getting his due credit for ‘saving’ WWE following his return in 2024. There have been several notable changes in the promotion’s creative directions and dialogue guidelines. While The Rock continues to get appreciated for almost all of his weekly appearances, there is a former WWE superstar who is not happy with his appearance on Raw 02/25.
The former talent in question is Ryback. On a recent episode of RybackTV, the retired pro wrestler talked about how he considers Johnson’s promo on last week’s Raw to be a ‘let down’.

As mentioned before, The Brahma Bull has been receiving praise for acting as a catalyst to increase the hype around WrestleMania XL. ‘Silverback’ also acknowledged the WWE legend’s presence in the leading wrestling promotion nowadays. He confessed that he was hyped to see Johnson’s entry on last week’s Monday Night Raw.
Talking about DJ’s appearance at the beginning of the show, Ryback said, “What an entrance. Just the presentation and then the promo up front and him not saying anything. And it was kind of like a letdown because you didn’t hear or know what he said. Or you didn’t really understand what it was like in that promo and then they pay it off at the end of the show like that.”
According to the retired pro wrestler, the Stamford-based company made up for it with the ‘bloody’ promo at the end of the show. However, the beginning of the night was not up to the mark as Ryback had expected.
Despite the criticism of Ryback’s show, Johnson is being credited for bringing back the ‘Attitude Era’ to the present day on WWE with the help of his influence on the roster.

WWE legend noticed how Dwayne Johnson changed the promotion
Mark Henry recently sat down with other co-hosts on an episode of the Busted Open podcast. There, he was discussing the changes in WWE that have taken place recently. Henry talked majorly about the PG guideline changes that are seen on the weekly shows. This is when he mentioned the changes that have been seen only after the newest TKO board director rejoined the roster.
So, indirectly, Henry was crediting Dwayne Johnson for the changes in WWE. Unlike Ryback, the WWE legend didn’t have any criticisms of the Hollywood superstar. After the Netflix-Raw deal comes into effect from January 2025 onwards, we may see more of this version of WWE.
