WWE Superstar Kevin Owens made a shock return to NXT in 2019 at War Games. However, it turned out to be a one-night-only thing. Recently, he mentioned that his return to NXT was supposed to be a long run until Vince McMahon canceled it.

In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Owens revealed his NXT return plans. He said, “Before I did the War Games return, there were concrete plans for me to go back to NXT for an extended period before coming back to the main roster. At the time Paul Heyman was in charge on RAW and those were just plans we had and Vince [McMahon] had signed off on all of them and, eventually, he changed his mind and nothing happened.”

“That’s all it comes down to – what he says goes. It wasn’t something I had just floated about, it was a plan that was going to happen and they just went in a different direction,” said Owens.

Kevin Owens returns at NXT TakeOver

At 2019 NXT Takeover WarGames, Kevin Owens returned to NXT to help Team Ciampa against Undisputed Era. As Team Ciampa was short by one man against the Undisputed era, Owens showed up to balance things.

The arena went berserk as the prizefighter’s music hit and he made his way out to join Keith Lee, Tommaso Ciampa, and Dominik Dijakovic.

The match turned out to be insane and intense, with both teams destroying each other. It featured some jaw-dropping moments. One of them saw Owens and Adam Cole pull a shot on the steel partition where Cole hit Owens with a PanamaSunrise.
