Rumors around Kevin Owens’ contract have been making the rounds lately. According to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful Select, his contract will end in January.

This report came as a shock because Owen told TVA Sports he signed a five-year extension in 2018. WWE restructured several contracts throughout the pandemic, and Owens’ agreement is one of them.

These rumors started through Kevin Owens’ Twitter account. He tweeted out the coordinates to Mount Rushmore, then deleted it.

If you didn’t know, Mount Rushmore was the name of the stable Kevin was in with AEW superstars, Adam Cole and The Young Bucks.

He left the stable after signing with WWE in 2014. Adding fuel to the fire, Owens’ also changed his Twitter location to ‘Almost there’ a few months ago, referring to his contract.

In a promo on Monday Night RAW, as he cut a promo against Seth and Big-E, he said something which stirred up the reports even more.

Owens said, “It might be for three more months, or three more years, that doesn’t matter. What matters is every single time I’m on Raw, you can believe I will do everything I can to give the WWE Universe something to remember.”

So much foreshadowing from KO and yet, no answers whether he’ll stay or depart for AEW.

Kevin Owens added to the title scene to take the pin.

In a surprising addition to the WWE Championship match on Day 1, Sonya and Adam Pearce added Kevin Owens after blindsiding Rollins.

He will fight Big-E and Seth Rollins on January 1st, whereas his contract will expire by January 31st.

Despite Owens being in the title scene for Day 1 right now, Dave Meltzer reported that he’d been added for the sole purpose of taking the pin. This is so that neither Seth nor Big-E look weak.

The report doesn’t seem like a stretch and makes sense, considering Owens is unofficially AEW bound. A few weeks ago, Kenny Omega posted a video of him fighting Kevin during their Indie days. This is the third time the former AEW World Champion has done this.
