There have been many movies made on the sport of pro wrestling, with the latest added to the list being The Iron Claw. The movie is based on the life and tragedy of the Von Erich family. Esteemed stars such as Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, and Maxwell Jacob take up the leading roles in the movie. Nevertheless, before the film’s December release, Dwayne Johnson revealed an interesting fact about it.

Johnson has a ton of stories from his early wrestling days, but this one involved his father and comes as a lesser-known trivia.

Dwayne Johnson’s father worked for the Von Erich family

Johnson is the son of legendary WWE star Rocky Johnson. His father was among the pioneers of the Samoan wrestling family in the WWE. Winning accolades over his years in the wrestling business, Johnson Sr. paved the way for The Rock and others in the business. Now, with years of experience, come some grand stories about the business.

While on the Joe Rogan Experience, Dwayne Johnson was talking about his father, Rocky Johnson. This led to a great segue where he revealed a connection between his father and the upcoming The Iron Claw movie. Johnson revealed that back in the day, his father worked for the Von Erich family. He said, “My old man was wrestling for a very famous family, The Von Erich family, and they got a big movie coming out.”

He went on to talk about how he knew the family members and even cited his hero. Johnson said, “The guy all the way on the right, Kerry, was my hero.” The movie showcases the life and tragedy of the family and their impact on the early world of pro wrestling.

While there have been many stories on pro wrestling, this is the first one publicized by a mainstream star about the Erich family. Both casual movie watchers and wrestling fans await with bated breath for the release of this movie. Coming out in December, the movie will hit the big screen after WWE NXT Deadline and before WWE’s Royal Rumble.

Nevertheless, Johnson’s recent return to WWE has cast a spotlight on him that has also put pressure on him to work during WrestleMania season. However, there haven’t been any developments since that fated day since his WWE return. So what is the status of his storyline in WWE?

Johnson’s current storyline lies in limbo within the WWE

Dwayne Johnson has been back in the WWE for quite some time now. Despite having a thunderous return to the company, his involvement in any storyline has not been explained. While fans believe he will be involved in The Bloodline storyline, there is no confirmation by the WWE to date. Fans speculate that it will come around Mania season 2024. The wrestling legion expects him to be involved in ending the arc once and for all by confronting Roman Reigns and ending the domination of the faction in decisive fashion.
