Despite all their history and star power, one of the top-rated matches of WrestleMania Night 1 wasn’t featured in the main event, something that didn’t please the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. Weeks after creating history on the biggest stage, Ripley chose to take out her disappointment on WWE higher-ups for not placing her match at the main event of WrestleMania Night 1.

While speaking on WWE After the Bell podcast, the Eradicator noted, ‘Coming out of that match, I did feel like we stole the show. I feel we went out there and left everything we had in the ring and proved to everyone exactly why we should have been in the main event spot. Yes, we didn’t have a good build like Sami, Owens, and the Usos; at the same time, Charlotte and I, every time we step in the ring, we bring the brutality, we bring the ferocious when we go out there and we just beat the living c**p out of each other.

She continued, “All the praise that we got it made me happy and made me proud that we went out there and beat the crap out of each other and loved it. It’s a weird feeling. I get it, I do get it.’

After a lot of discussion and speculation, the much-desired main event spot went to the Usos, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn. The decision not only upset Ripley but the other inseparable part of the match, Charlotte Flair also had the same feeling regarding this.

Charlotte Flair also believed her WrestleMania match should’ve been the main event

While WWE’s creative was yet to decide the spot of the high-profile match, The Queen cleared her stance, wanting her match against Rhea Ripley to headline one of the nights of WrestleMania 39. During an interview with Forbes, Flair referred to Ripley’s Royal Rumble win to make a valid point in support of her demand. Also, she reflected on both their personal legacy and storytelling ability to point out their worth to deserve a better spot while facing each other on the biggest stage.

Charlotte mentioned the coveted SmackDown Women’s Championship title as another major reason behind demanding a main event spot. However, unlike Ripley, The 6-time Raw Women’s Champion also made it very clear that she would not take it otherwise even if she didn’t end up main eventing in the Mania. Rather, she would like to use it as a motivation.

The resilient superstar also took her loss sportingly and didn’t hold back from congratulating her opponent at all. Speaking of Flair’s current status, she will most likely come up from her hiatus around WWE SummerSlam this year.
