The pandemic was difficult for everyone. Our favorite wrestling stars were no exception. While the live audience was unavailable inside the stadium, WWE stars were still giving their best to the production crew and their cameras to broadcast it to all the fans across the globe. Bayley, in particular, was doing pretty well in her performance.

After the fans started slowly returning, the 2021 Money in the Bank event was going to be the first one with a full crowd in attendance. However, just before Bayley had to take time off due to an injury. 

In July 2021, Bayley severely injured her ACL while training for a match with Bianca Belair. The wrestler was sidelined for at least nine months. This was going to be a huge gap in her career that she wasn’t ready for. Consequently, it made things a bit too depressing for The Huggable One.

Bayley’s upsetting career break

Although things were going great for her on a personal level, what upset Bayley about this injury was a much more selfless reason. After the injury had occurred, it was known that Bayley would need to rest a few months out. Consequently, she was called to do a backstage segment to announce to the world that she had suffered a huge knee injury.

I just couldn’t believe it was happening ’cause it was the end of me and Bianca’s story at the time,” said the female wrestler. Moving on from her own grief, she was more worried that Belair’s efforts had gone in vain.

Addressing the upsetting situation, Bayley said, “I was mad that I let her down and that I couldn’t finish the story.” She also mentioned how the fact that fans were to return to the stadium soon made the situation even more depressing. The former NXT champion couldn’t be there to perform in front of the crowd after playing a pivotal role during the pandemic.

However, since then she has returned and has been better than ever. She arrived at SummerSlam last year after her injury hiatus alongside Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky. The three are part of the Damage Control faction that has dominated the Women’s division on RAW and holds the WWE Women’s tag team titles.
