John Cena surprised the entire WWE fanbase when he showed up at Money in the Bank in Toronto. He was present at the PLE not to wrestle but to announce something shocking during the night; that he has decided to retire. The wrestler has talked about hanging up his boots before but has always turned around for one more match.

This time is different because he also revealed the last date he will be seen inside the ring and after that, there will be no wrestling action from his end for the rest of his life. This could also mean that he may follow in Dwayne Johnson‘s footsteps.

John Cena and Dwayne Johnson to become co-workers again?

Both stars propelled themselves to mainstream fame with their historic WWE stints. Their prolonged success prompted them to try out their luck in Hollywood. The stars continued to show up in WWE despite their busy Hollywood schedules. Johnson is still involved backstage, being a TKO board member. Denise Salcedo talked about the possibility of John Cena trying out the same path and said on the Busted Open Podcast, “I mean, you got The Rock on that board. If you’re going to add anybody else, John Cena is definitely one of those because that’s the thing [with] John Cena, he isn’t just wrestling famous. He’s not just famous amongst wrestling fans. No, he transcended into, you know, mainstream pop culture and all of that.

According to the podcast co-host, Cena’s presence on the TKO board would make as much sense as Johnson’s because they are both more than just wrestling personalities. So, when the Cenation leader revealed that he would hang up his boots for good and be seen in a suit, this might have been what he was hinting at. But it’s possible that this saga may not begin unless both Cena and The Rock face off one last time.

Could Dwayne Johnson and John Cena be preparing for one last face-off?

The Rock and The Cenation Leader have had a long-running rivalry in the Stamford-based company. The last time they had a match together was more than a decade ago in 2013 at WrestleMania 29. This year at the 40th Mania, we saw John Cena pitched against the TKO board member. So, when the 16-time WWE Champion finally announced that he would no longer be competing in wrestling matches after WrestleMania 41, some of us would have immediately thought about one final rematch between the arch-rivals.

There are many prospective enemies that Cena made along the way that he can wrestle against and put a satisfying end to his legendary career run. However, when a question about facing Johnson came up during the post-show media conference in Toronto after MITB, the 16-time WWE champion couldn’t deny the possibility and replied with a practical answer. This means that there is a slight possibility that both the stars will feud, probably before John Cena gets the opportunity to join the TKO board.
