John Cena’s Hugely Successful WWE Career Left Him With a Major Regret: “Am I Chasing Too Much Money?”

John Cena entered the WWE in the early 2000s. Initially, he was just another young guy who stepped inside the world of Vince McMahon with an ambition to rule it one day. Despite early problems, John Cena actually achieved that goal.

His popularity skyrocketed after he became the WWE Champion at WrestleMania 21 and didn’t look back after that. However, things were not as smooth as they were seeming.

John Cena reveals his biggest regret after being successful

In his recent appearance in the Hollywood star Kevin Hart’s show ‘Hart to Heart’, the WWE superstar John Cena went back down memory lane. He brought back the moment when he became popular and started to earn well.  

The 16-time WWE world champion revealed that there was a moment when the WWE was portraying him as one of the strongest wrestlers, but in reality, things weren’t that good.

John Cena said that because he was struggling when it comes to love and self-worth, so he decided to fill that empty part with wealth, but in the end, he started questioning his choices.

Talking to the host, John Cena said, “I short on love, man was I short on self-worth.  My physical health, my strength was showcased on TV but damn, I wasn’t really taking care of myself. So I learned kind of at a tipping point to spread the wealth…… And if one bucket gets too low, where am I in excess? Where am I going too hard? Am I chasing too much money? That seems like so anti-what everybody’s heard but like, man, what are you chasing?”

Not only this, but the ‘Cenation Leader’ also revealed what made him run after the money during the initial years of his WWE career.

What made Cena run after the wealth?

Earlier in the show, the 16-time world champion revealed the main reason behind that. According to him, it was his relationship with his father. John Cena mentioned that earlier, his father was the biggest driving force but then “it was counterproductive”. So he switched it with money by making a mindset that he should earn as much money as possible because once he gets hurt, no one will pay him anymore.

“Make hay while the sun shines in our business because if you get hurt, you don’t get paid.”, said John Cena.

Luckily, the ‘Cenation Leader’ gave up on that mindset and started to focus on his physical and mental well-being. Today, John Cena is a big name in the world of sports and the entertainment industry. He hasn’t just ruled the wrestling industry but also carved his niche in Hollywood. Today, no matter if someone is a fan of professional wrestling or doesn’t even watch it, one thing that everyone certainly knows is who John Cena is.
