It is one of the many roles in which the Leader of the Cenation could be seen as a less intimidating and fun character. While his cameo was a short one, fans still remember it because of how he was able to pull it off. However, fans were almost on the verge of not seeing John Cena dressed up as a merman due to this one reason.

Why John Cena was about to lose his role in Barbie?

According to word circulating online, Cena’s PR team was not in favor of him taking this role and wanted it to be removed from the movie. The reason stated by his team was that it might have affected his image and in turn, caused him trouble landing major roles. While this was a cameo, the role depicted him in a role that fans are not used to seeing him in.

Despite the warnings of his PR team, Cena still did the role and the segment made it to the final cut. Cena is not new when it comes to taking on new and challenging roles. His upcoming movie titled Ricky Stanicky could be considered as the latest example. In the R-rated movie, Cena will be playing the titular character who happens to be a washed-up actor/stripper.
