John Cena, Who Had a Safe Worker Reputation, Once Put an Ex-WWE Star’s Career in Jeopardy: “Legitimately Broke His Neck”

Wrestling is a sport of strength, which means there are high chances of one getting injured. Sometimes an injury can result to be the end of one’s career. Even though the pro wrestlers go on fighting in the squared circle.

But once, a lethal kick by the WWE superstar, John Cena injured his opponent severely. The mishap during the fight resulted in breaking the wrestler’s neck. However, a recent revelation by the Canadian Wrestler, Rene Dupree, gave interesting information from earlier days. 

It was also claimed that a fight between Cena and Aaron Aguilera was booked to write off the superstar from TV. As the Cenation leader needed to go out of the county to film The Marine. 

The storyline behind the fight between Cena and Jesús goes a long way back. Their narrative involved several gimmicks that shaped the WWE theme for that time. 

Rene Dupree reveals an incident from 2004

In his Cafe de Rene podcast, the former WWE Tag Team Champion revealed several events of WWE. One of which involved the 16-time World Champion’s kick that injured his opponent in a Street Fight. It might be difficult for the Chain Gang to believe that their leader once broke a wrestler’s neck, but Dupree claims that this has happened. 

He said, “Jesús! For those who don’t remember, he was Carlito’s bodyguard, and Cena broke his neck, actually. There was a spot where he kicked him in the head that legitimately broke his neck. I felt bad for him because, like, he broke his neck, he was out for like five or six months, and he was from San Diego.

Cena was defending his WWE United States Championship title from Aguilera when this incident happened. Rather than fighting in a usual wrestling match, it featured them in a Street Fight.

Jesús came to fight with some pre-existing injuries, and fate had one more gruesome plan for the wrestler. He lost the match and Cena’s lethal kick broke his neck. Further, he was kept away from wrestling for almost 6 months.

John Cena returns to the ring since SummerSlam 2021

This was one shocking piece of knowledge that fans gathered during a time when everyone was waiting for Cena’s return to the ring. As per the recent surprise reveal, The Chain Gang Soldier has revealed his appearance in the last episode of the blue brand.

In the December 16th episode of SmackDown, Cena hijacked the segment to put forward the big news. 

The fans will soon witness Cena partnered with Kevin Owens in a tag team match against Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. 

Since SummerSlam 2021, we did not see the Massachusetts wrestler fighting in the ring. It will definitely be a match worth watching. However, WWE fans will always wish that no such serious injuries happen again to any wrestler.
