Cena recently sat down for an interview on WWE’s The Bump podcast. During the interview, he admitted he was wrong to let his selfishness get the best of him and unintentionally hurt Johnson. He didn’t try to pin his blame on others and took the blame like a true gentleman.
“In between the times we have spent with each other, I’ve openly kind of come to the realization that the first foray into us competing against each other probably was a professional mistake on my part, and I’ve been very apologetic and open with my apology that the way I conducted business wasn’t the realm of trying to do good business,” he said.
He stated that he soon realized his mistake and felt very sorry for his behavior. He also made necessary amendments to the mistake he committed eleven years ago. But how exactly did the equation between the two icons turn sour during their feud?

Cena knew his intentions were not malicious, but the way he carried out his words hurt Johnson. He realized his mistake later and asked for Johnson’s forgiveness. Johnson, who has a big heart, forgave him and buried the hatchet. Not only that, Cena also went to Ata Johnson, (Rock’s mother) and apologized for wronging her son.
Both the stars have buried the past and have moved forward. Speaking of which, they also currently shared a segment on SmackDown featuring Johnson’s return to WWE. The two stars were full of praise for each other and even hugged backstage.
