John Cena's return: A masterstroke by WWE or just a desperate move to boost ratings?

John Cena, the sixteen-time WWE champion, will soon leave the business. In 2025, his retirement run will begin, and he will appear in WWE for 36 dates in the whole year. New storylines and matchups are expected to be featured in these 36 dates, but in December 2025, John Cena will officially have his last match and leave the in-ring action. So now the question is what will he do after that?

Several speculations have circulated across the wrestling world about this issue, as fans want to know if Cena is retiring from WWE or wrestling. According to a fresh report, the Cenation Leader has been speculated to retire from wrestling itself. Not only that but it has been verified that Cena has signed a contract with WWE that expressly specifies that he will no longer compete and will have his last bout in December 2024.

Wrestling News Observer reported this news on their YouTube channel, claiming that as a result of this contract, John Cena would get money without doing anything. Bryan Alvarez stated in the video, “John Cena also signed a new deal with WWE. So he’s out of here. He actually did an interview the other day and he goes, ‘There is no amount of money that will get me to wrestle past December 2025’. And now he reveals he’s got an incredible amount of money to just not wrestle anymore with WWE.”
