WrestleMania in London with Cena's retirement looming—Is this the end of an era?

WWE has a knack for announcing its PLE venues and dates several months in advance. Every fan knows that WrestleMania 41 will be held in Las Vegas, but it seems like the Stamford-based company is already working hard to decide where Mania will go in the next few years. Though April 2025 will be the last we will see of John Cena, he seems excited about WWE’s future. He recently took to X to appreciate the efforts that UK fans have been putting in to follow the wrestling promotion and its shows and showed his enthusiasm for bringing WrestleMania to London.

The Cenation Leader was present at Money in the Bank in Toronto this year only to announce that he was hanging up his wrestling gear in 2025. WrestleMania 41 will be his last Mania ever, ending his farewell tour and the legendary career run that he has had over the years. However, seeing WWE potentially hosting a WrestleMania in London, Cena got excited and announced his presence there.

Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London City, recently met up with Triple H and Nick Khan to discuss the potential of bringing “the grandest stage of all” to the largest city in the United Kingdom. Yesterday I welcomed Paul “@TripleH” Levesque and @WWE President Nick Khan to City Hall to discuss our ambition to bring WrestleMania to London. I’m determined to cement our city’s reputation as the undisputed sports capital of the world and it’s exciting to be working with the WWE team,” the mayor wrote on X.

Replying to the mayor’s post, Cena said via his official X handle, “The city of London, and all of the UK has supported WWE thru thick and thin. I try to minimize using the word “deserve” so I will use more appropriate terms. I’ve said it before and stand by it. In my mind London has EARNED a chance to host WrestleMania. I won’t get to compete when it happens but I will BE THERE as a fan for sure!

Keeping it very clear that he won’t be returning for any action, Cena made sure to hype the fans up to bring the grand PLE to London. But what about his final match in WWE?

Have an interesting take?

There are still several months left before Cena’s farewell tour comes to a close. However, as a fan of the WWE legend, people have every right to be wondering who his final opponent will be. One of the more obvious names that comes to fans’ minds when thinking about the same topic is the “Final Boss” of all the babyfaces in the Stamford-based company, Dwayne Johnson. Since the two have shared an elaborate rivalry against each other in the past, it would make sense for WWE to revive it again.

The last time they had a proper match, they seemingly resolved their issues, but John Cena believes anything can happen in pro wrestling. After his MITB appearance, WWE allowed him to open up the post-show media conference, and the reporters had a lot to ask him. One of them asked whether there was still some untold story left between him and The Rock and if we should expect him to be his last opponent at WrestleMania 41.

This is when the Hollywood superstar revealed that he doesn’t think about things that aren’t in his hands and choosing his final opponent is one of those things. However, he also gave us hope by claiming that there is never a ‘no’ in pro wrestling and everything is potentially possible.
