The Champ is now regarded as an inspiration by many, both in the wrestling industry and Hollywood. With a slogan like “Never Give Up,” Cena undoubtedly motivated many people, especially young children. He once admitted that his attitude helped him advance in his profession and in his life.

In 2017, The Champ told Parade that as a child; he was simply another youngster with grand visions. Notably, as a young boy, he was especially obsessed with Hip Hop and used to look up to artists like MC Hammer and Kid ‘n Play. Interestingly, he loved to rhyme like his idols, as he like to keep his “Hair stuck straight up, dyed at the top … I had the rayon pants—mustard polka dot—and the airbrushed overalls.”

He continued by saying that other kids in his school used to bully him and beat him up. So, Cena then pleaded with his father to make it possible for him to train. He stated, “I got my ass kicked every day. But it kinda made me who I am.” After which Cena begged him, “Hey, man, please buy me a set of weights.”

Bullying drove John Cena to test the limits
Fans have seen videos of him bench pressing more than 480 pounds, demonstrating how far he challenged himself. Cena didn’t crumble under the pressure. Rather, he rose to the occasion and overcame his weaknesses, and the rest, as they say, is history. A hero to his legions of devoted followers, The Champ, one of the most well-known individuals in the world, is regarded with great respect.
