The latest episode of WWE NXT had John Cena make a special appearance on the show while supporting Carmelo Hayes. While this was an iconic moment on its own, another unexpected highlight was added to it.

Cena was performing a promo when his eyes landed on his foe who clashed with his words against him. A tweet on X showcased Cena in a picture with his rap battle rival along with the video of the 2003 event.

The tweet carried the caption, “In October 2003, @johncena & @CoryLutzow faced off in a rap battle outside of a WWE event. Tonight at #WWENXT, they reunited after 20 years.”

The tweet also consisted of another picture clicked back in 2003, where the battle rivals posed together with a hand sign. Apparently, it was this hand sign that made John Cena spot his foe amidst the vast ocean of spectators gathered to see him.

Cena’s rap battle rival, Cory Lutzow, responded to the tweet and said, “LOL, I’m never gonna live this down. 6 you for this post. Last night was amazing to reunite after 20 years. And yes, he remembered me. Made up a sign that caught his eye. As soon as he saw it, he came right over after his promo in the ring.” It is quite remarkable that John Cena could make the connection from 20 years ago with just a hand sign.
