John Cena has acquired almost all records to his name in his decade-long WWE career. From being the face of the company for the longest tenure to being a 16-time world champion, Cena himself has been a living record book.

The Champ however had to compromise on his wrestling schedule a bit after jumping ship to the Holywood world. He has since been working as a part-time performer inside the company with fewer appearances in a year. That said, The Cenation leader never missed coming home once a year to wrestle at least one match since his debut.

After cropping up at the final SmackDown episode of 2022, Cena again went on his usual hiatus. He had been off the screen for nearly four months afterward, leaving ample room for fans to wonder if 2023 marks the end of his phenomenal record. Fortunately, it didn’t.

The WWE legend holds a unique streak of lacing up his boots at least once in the year since his debut in 2002. 2023 also didn’t go otherwise with the star facing Austin Theory for the US title at WrestleMania 39 Night one.

Now, we will see what the rest of the eventful year awaits the generational superstar.

Now, let’s take a deeper look at how the year 2023 has treated Cena so far.

A quick look back at John Cena’s wrestling mojo throughout this year

Excluding the WrestleMania match and the brief glimpse of Money in The Bank, the most significant run for Cena kickstarted with his Smackdown return in September on the backdrop of a Holywood backlog due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. It was followed by the 16-time world champion hitting the road for his first-ever match in India, that too, in an international live event WWE Superstar Spectacle. He successfully displayed his mojo taking down Imperium’s Giovanni Vinci & Ludwig Kaiser with Seth Rollins by his side.

At Fastlane also, Cena kept on riding high getting the upper hand against Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa alongside LA Knight.

However, In Crown Jewel, Solo Sikoa retreated, scoring a win over John Cena dominantly.

With the year rapidly approaching its end, the 46-year-old didn’t have much sand left in his hourglass.

And we better not waste the privilege of watching the GOAT in action as long as we have him.
