John Cena Pays Homage to Departing WWE Superstar

The 16-time World Champion John Cena pays tribute to former NXT Superstar Johnny Gargano. Johnny Wrestling said his last goodbye to the WWE fans on Tuesday.

John Cena is one of the WWE Superstars who are kind and respectful towards every wrestler in the business. Cena is a person who respects every person whether it’s a wrestler or a celebrity or anyone else. The kind nature of Cena has made people love him more. Recently, the prototype posted Johnny Gargano’s picture on his Instagram handle.

John Cena posted Gargano’s picture from his recent outfit at NXT WarGames. At NXT WarGames Gargano teamed up with Tomasso Ciampa, LA Knight, and Pete Dunne in an alliance called Team Black & Gold.

Gargano competed in his last march against Team 2.0 at NXT WarGames. Gargano showcased his skills and impressed the WWE fans with his wrestling skills over the years. Since 2025, Gargano competed on the NXT roster and grew higher towards a bigger spot on the roster.

Johnny Gargano gets a farewell beat down

The recent episode of NXT 2.0 ended in an emotional speech from Johnny Gargano. The former NXT Champion was emotional while addressing the fans.

The Triple-Crown Champion competed in the NXT brand for a long time. He started his NXT career in 2015, which gave him a lot of fame and appreciation from the fans. Johnny Wrestling is one of the best NXT Superstars who delivered epic performances in their NXT Career.

During his speech, Gargano gave motivation to the fans and ended his speech with a thanking note. However, NXT Superstar Grayson Waller delivered a chair shot on Gargano’s back. Waller was one competitor from Team NXT 2.0 who won the NXT WarGames. He unleashed a brutal assault on Gargano.

Eventually, Waller threw Gargano on the ringside and assaulted him, smashing him into the steel steps. Later on, Waller power bombed Johnny Gargano on the announce desk.

What’s next for Gargano?

Johnny Gargano’s contract expires on Friday. For now, Gargano has revealed no plans for his future. Currently, he will stay with his pregnant wife Candice Le Rae.

The former NXT Champion had a great NXT career becoming the Triple Crown Champion. During his tenure, he gave his best to the WWE universes. As revealed earlier, he has no further plans decided. He can sign to any other wrestling federation as he becomes a free agent soon.
