WWE superstar John Cena recently went into appreciation mode once again. But this time, the person on the receiving end wasn’t a fellow pro wrestler, but Hollywood actor Zac Efron. Cena appreciated the work and commitment showcased by Efron in his latest project wherein he plays the part of a pro wrestler.

Zac Efron’s latest movie named The Iron Claw premiered in Dallas in November and received an elegant response. As the film will soon hit US theaters on 22nd December, John Cena took to social media to praise Efron. In fact, his social media post comes right after he shared a viral red carpet moment with an AEW star and actor in the movie.

John Cena holds Zac Efron’s latest project in great regard

The film was premiered on 8th November and received an elegant response. While John Cena was sharing several vintage videos of his early career, he has now chosen to appreciate the biopic of a vintage pro wrestler.

John Cena shared his admiration with his fans on X via a tweet. Cena wrote, “Incredibly proud of @ZacEfron for an outstanding performance in @A24’s #TheIronClaw. Thank you for doing the work to help introduce a new audience to one of our industry’s most important families. See it in theaters Dec. 22nd!!!” The tweet also carried the images of the 16-time WWE champ with AEW’s Champion MJF.

The 16-time World Champion fully endorsed the 36-year-old actor for introducing the Von Erich story to a new generation. The movie is a wrestling biopic that showcases the life of the Von Erich pro wrestling family. While Efron plays the role of Kevin Von Erich, MJF appears in the movie as Lance Von Erich.

The Von Erich Family holds a lot of significance in the pro wrestling world. The dynasty that originated from Texas ended up ruling the entire decade of the 1980s with their performances.

The legacy of the Von Erich Family

The film focuses on the Adkisson family who used the last name of Von Erich whenever they stepped inside the ring. The legacy was started by Jack Adkisson who took on the name Fritz Von Erich as part of his character as a Nazi heel. 

While Fritz Von Erich inspired several wrestlers like John Cena, he also suffered several great personal life tragedies. The famed pro wrestler had to bear the pain of the death of five of his sons before meeting his own demise. 

The several unfortunate events that caused the deaths of his sons are known as the Von Erich Curse. The Zac Efron and MJF starrer will revolve around the infamous curse.
