One of the healthiest superstars in the industry, John Cena, is a true role model. He started out as a competitive amateur bodybuilder. However, he soon shifted gears and became a full-time pro wrestler. The WWE soon hired Cena, and it became the start of his highly successful journey.

After an extremely illustrious reign at WWE, Cena moved to Hollywood. He started pursuing his career as an actor in Hollywood. His stardom and popularity helped him in bagging some very important roles in some big franchises. Alongside his film career, he also makes part-time appearances for WWE, and also maintains his highly impressive physique.

John Cena is now 45 years old and is way past his prime. Cena used to be a different breed when he was young. However, that has changed now. Although he is just as powerful as he used to be, the man has now slowed down a bit, but with age; it happens.

John Cena talks about his workout routine

During an interview with GQ, Cena opened up about how he has changed his workout habits with his age. He also opened up about some practices which he follows that will allow him to lift weights till he is of 80-years-old.

When he asked, he revealed that he starts his workouts with cardio, and then some heavy compound weight training. Cena confessed that he does the same things he used to do, but now with lighter weights. He stated that he follows it up with some stretching because that helps him walk out of the gym.

The Leader of Cenation continued, “With the principles of yoga, it actually keeps me present and in tune with my body. If I had anything in my mental backpack on the way into the gym, it’s gone by the time I leave.” He stated how yoga has helped him stay fit both physically and mentally. And, also revealed the healthy habits which would help him lift weights till he is old.

How did John Cena’s bodybuilding career look?

John Cena moved to Venice, California, in 1998 to pursue his career as a bodybuilder. Venice, California, is also known as the Mecca of bodybuilding, and Cena moved there hoping to make it big in the leagues. However, life was expensive and tough there, and Cena had to do several odd jobs to survive there. It was then he started training at the Gold’s Gym there, and also participating in several bodybuilding competitions.

However, he was unable to shine as a bodybuilder and switched careers to pro wrestling. And the rest is history.
