The Leader of Cenation was born and brought up in West Newbury, Massachusetts and his real name is John Felix Anthony Cena, He was born to John Joseph Cena (John Cena Sr.) and Carol Cena. His father was an avid wrestling fan and had passed down his love for wrestling to all of his children.

Growing up, Cena was a sports enthusiast and had a love for several sports. He would wrestle with his siblings while growing up and also had a passion for bodybuilding. At 15, Cena had his own workout set at home, where he would regularly work out, and craft his physique.

After graduation, he moved to Springfield College in Massachusetts to study exercise physiology. Later, he would move to Venice in Los Angeles, California to pursue his dream of bodybuilding. John Cena faced major disappointment during his bodybuilding days and had to switch careers. He would join Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW). Here, Cena would debut his infamous half-robot character, ‘The Prototype’.

He would start his career there by wrestling at local flea markets. His time at the UPW was recorded by the Discovery Channel program, ‘Inside Pro Wrestling School.’ In April 2000, Cena won the UPW World Heavyweight Championship and held onto it for 27 days. He was part of UPW till March 2001, before shifting to OVW, WWE developmental brand.

During his stint at OVW, he would also start wrestling for WWE in dark matches. In 2002, Cena would receive a promotion from the developmental brand to the main roster and joined the legendary 2002 class of OVW. Also known as, OVW Four, the class consisted of Cena, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, and Batista.

In an open challenge hosted by Kurt Angle, Cena would make his debut and lose to Angle after putting up a valiant fight. He received praise from multiple superstars including The Undertaker. Later, he would embrace The Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick, and undergo a heel turn, his first and only heel switch.

After a successful heel run, he turned face as the ‘Doctor of Thuganomics’ and continued to rise up the ranks. During this time he won the United States Championship and became a fan favorite. After winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 21, he would move to RAW, having spent the majority of his career on SmackDown. A change in brand also led to a change in gimmick as the trash-talking rapper character was dropped for a cleaner babyface.

This would be the start of Cena’s legendary WWE career. Over the course of years, John Cena won multiple championships and broke several records while on his journey to the top of WWE. During the course of his career, Cena would engage in multiple heated rivalries with the likes of Dwayne Johnson, Randy Orton, Edge, CM Punk, and many others.

The 45-year-old is a record 16-time World Champion and is tied with The Nature Boy Ric Flair for most world titles won by a male wrestler. After tasting major success Cena would leave WWE for a career in the movie business. He would recently return and engage in a feud with Austin Theory over his United States Championship.
