John Cena Is on the Radar of a Top WWE Star, Who Has Been Undefeated in Singles Competition for 9 Months: “That’s Something I Would Love to Do”

Ever since the reports regarding John Cena’s appearance at WrestleMania 39 started doing rounds, fans have been busy coming up with able opponents for him. Many hats are thrown in the ring for potential superstars who might be up for the challenge. From NXT upshots to old rivals such as Randy Orton and Edge all are in the mix. And even Logan Paul, after his recent heroics, is being mentioned in the conversations.

However, there’s a top heel currently in WWE whose credentials have been rising week after week. And he has revealed his desire to go up against The Doctor Of Thuganomics recently.

The Intercontinental Champion Gunther has had a tremendous start to his career in the main roster. He has stayed undefeated in singles competitions for almost 9 months now. Although he made his main roster debut earlier this year, the Austrian has an excellent pedigree. He also boasts a record for being the longest-reigning NXT UK Champion. 

Gunther is up for the John Cena challenge

Gunther recently interacted with Steve Fall on the Ten Count podcast. He was asked about his chances of facing John Cena at WrestleMania 39 next year. To this, The Ring General responded, “Um, of course, we could see it. I don’t know what’s gonna happen or uh if it’s gonna happen but obviously, that’s something I would love to do. Like John Cena is one of, one of the legends I would say, I think he has the legend status now.”

“Because he’s really not active at the moment anymore, just pops up but when he does and the chance is there for me. I would like gladly take it. I think one of the if not the most popular babyface in the sport of all time and I think it would be a great counterpart for that so I would love to do it.” added the SmackDown wrestler.

Gunther’s wrestling credentials back his words

The towering performer has set the squared circle alight with his impressive performances since his debut. He has taken on well-known names like Shinsuke Nakamura and Rey Mysterio and came out on top with ease. Gunther’s all-out brawls with veteran Sheamus in particular have caught everyone’s attention. The two have gone on to put on a clinic against each other every time they have come face to face.

The Ring General is also the master of the destructive heel faction The Imperium. The group consists of his longtime associates Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci.

There is no shortage of opponents for the Cenation Leader if he does decide to appear at WrestleMania 39. With each opponent posing a different threat to the 16-times world champion. But Gunther is starting to earn a great heel reputation among the fans and could prove to be an excellent foil for the perennial babyface of WWE, John Cena.
